Pakistan are bossing the game at the moment as they finished day 2 on 374 for 6 and lead Zimbabwe by 198 runs. Fawad Alam scored a brilliant century, his fourth of the career and third since making his comeback. He still is at the crease and will be hoping to convert this in to a big one.
He started tentatively but when he settled down it was an innings of complete control and authority. He smashed Richard Ngarava for a couple of fours in the 106th over, it seemed like an anomaly as the cricket played had been attritional throughout the two days.
In the second session, Zimbabwe bowlers bowled tight lines and hardly gave anything away as Pakistan made slow progress to a dominant position. Although, Pakistan has overcome Zimbabwe’s score but lost three wickets. Donald Tiripano removed Azhar Ali and Babar Azam on successive deliveries. Azhar was dismissed for 36 while captain Azam made a golden duck.
Imran Butt who played brilliantly for his 91 was dismissed by left armer Richard Ngarava trying to push at one going away from him.
Before that Imran – held fort though and scored his fifty before Drinks. It was after the first hour of play that the first boundary was scored and it came off the bat of Azhar Ali who put away a ball off the pads. He got a thick edge in the same over for another four. But the cricket again went back to being insipid. Only 59 was scored from the 32 overs that were bowled in that session.
Zimbabwean bowlers have done well to keep the batters on a tight leash as plenty of maidens were bowled in the morning session but the wicket has barely assisted their efforts and that hasn’t helped them much.
