Officials at the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul have been accused by Pakistani nationals residing in Afghanistan of nepotistic hiring, according to sources.

15 visa assistant positions at the embassy were advertised on October 13, 2020, and reserved for locals residing in Afghanistan. However, it is alleged that the positions were filled by Pakistani nationals related to the embassy officials.

Instead of recruiting local visa assistants, the embassy officials recruited their relatives from Pakistan to fill in the vacancies. Along with the appointment of visa assistants, 3 janitors were also appointed, for whom no advertisement had been given.

The Pakistani community in Afghanistan raised issue with the appointments and lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sources claim. They have demanded action from the Ministry against the officers allegedly involved in irregularities in the appointments at the embassy.
