Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has told Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in capital Ashgabat that Pakistan considers peace and stability in Afghanistan important for trade and connectivity in the region.
Foreign Minister Qureshi reached Ashgabat on Thursday on the second leg of the four-nation tour to have high-level interactions on the Afghan situation.
The foreign minister apprised the president of Islamabad’s viewpoint regarding the unfolding situation in Afghanistan.
He tweeted that he was “pleased to call on President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow today in Ashgabat. I reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhance our economic connect through various projects including TAPI. Also shared imp of a peaceful Afghanistan & the need to continue close coordination.”
President Berdimuhamedow praised Pakistan’s efforts for a coordinated approach on Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister Qureshi reached Turkmenistan from Uzbekistan after a visit to Tajikistan and will visit Iran during his three-day tour.
He took to twitter and wrote that he met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and “conveyed warmth of PM Imran Khan.”
They discussed situation in Afghanistan and expressed the hope for Afghan leaders to broker inclusive political solution for peace, security and prosperity through stronger trade and eco ties, Qureshi tweeted.
In Tajikistan, he held meetings with Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and called on President Emomali Rahmon. The minister also promoted bilateral cooperation in various fields.
