A Pakistan Army helicopter rescued three stranded mountaineers, including a Pakistani, from the Rakaposhi Mountain on Wednesday morning.

Wajidullah Nagri and two Czech Republic mountaineers had been stranded at an altitude of 6,900 metres on the mountain for the past five days.

Taking to Twitter, Nagar Deputy Commissioner Zulqarnain Khan confirmed that the mountaineers have been rescued by the army.

He said that the mountaineers have been shifted to Gilgit and are in high spirits. They thanked the Pakistan Army for saving their lives, he added.

Helicopters to rescue climbers had arrived in Hunza on Sunday and started a rescue operation to bring them back. After a hectic effort for two days the Pakistan Army’s airmen brought them them back.
