Pakistan has set a new record of administering 383,000 COVID-19 vaccine in a single day. This was announced by the National Command and Operation Centre head Asad Umar on Sunday.

He tweeted, “On Saturday, the country set a new record of administering over 383,000 vaccines in a day, he tweeted on Sunday. The number of registrants is also steadily increasing and 11.663 million people have registered.”

More than 7m people have been vaccinated across the country so far.

Pakistan on Friday received 100,000 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine via COVAX. Shipments of Pfizer diluents and syringes will be arriving over the next two days. The vaccines will be used for the Government of Pakistan’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The shipment of vaccines came with the collaboration of UNICEF South Asia and the Vaccine Alliance of the World Health Organization (WHO). In a statement, UNICEF commended Pakistan’s effort and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad for the successful rollout of the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination campaign. 

In the last 24 hours, Pakistan reported 2,697 new COVID-19 infections while 56 people lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by NCOC.

The positivity ratio in the country was recorded at 4.81 per cent.
