During the first T20I between Pakistan Women and West Indies Women at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium today, the national team’s all-rounder, Nida Dar, achieved an impressive feat of picking 100 wickets in T20I cricket.

She is the first Pakistani cricketer to achieve this milestone and now sits ahead of the lights of Sana Mir, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi.

As of now, only four bowlers – Anisa Mohammed (120), Ellyse Perry (115), Shabnum Ismail (110) and Anya Shrubsole (102) – have crossed the 100-wicket mark at this level, and Nida, who is Pakistan’s most successful bowler with 101 scalps has become the fifth bowler.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official Twitter handle also lauded Nida Dar on this achievement and said, “Congratulations @CoolNidadar becomes the first Pakistan bowler to pick up 100 T20I wickets.”

Match Report

Host West Indies registered a 10-run victory against Pakistan women team in the first of three matches T20I series played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. In the first innings, West Indies women set a 137-run target. In reply, Pakistani women were restricted to score 126 for 6.

Pakistan didn’t have the best of starts as they lost 6 wickets for only 57 runs in 13 overs. However, Ayesha Naseem and Fatima Sana stitched a brilliant partnership and 69* runs for the 7th wicket at a run rate over nine but fell short of the eventual target.

Ayesha Naseem was undefeated on 45 off 33 – her highest score in this format, She smashed two fours and a six.

Earlier, the West Indies openers struck a 65-run partnership from 53 deliveries, before Matthews – the top-scorer of the innings with 28-ball 32 – was dismissed by Nashra Sandhu in the 9th over.

The two dismissals saw West Indies slip from 65 for none to 67 for two and the wicket of their captain on the last ball of the 14th over further compounded troubles for the hosts Mathews had also shared with the bat, adding 32 runs in a 65-run important partnership with Deandra Dottin.

Both sides will face each other in the second T20I at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on July 2.
