Coronavirus infections are decreasing in Pakistan as it reported less than 3,000 infections after about a month and a half with positivity rate remaining under 6 percent.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) released on Monday, 2,988 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 1,207,508.
Pakistan reported less than 3,000 new coronavirus cases – 2,819 – on July 25.
The NCOC data showed that 53,158 coronavirus tests were conducted in Pakistan in the last 24 hours. The positivity ratio in the country stood at 5.62 percent.
Since August 24, Pakistan’s positivity rate has been under 7% on 19 out of 21 days.
The current active cases of the country stand at 90,545.
In the last 24 hours, 67 people died due to coronavirus, taking the death toll to 26,787. A total 1,090,176 people have recovered.
Pakistan has so far administered at least 67,342,288 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Assuming every person needs two doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 15.5 percent of the country’s population.
During the last week, Pakistan administered 1,111,814 doses each day. At that rate, it will take a further 39 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.
