Federal COVID-19 response body National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to contact the unvaccinated people to convince them to get jabbed. It is reported that the main target of this particular campaign will be the districts that are lagging behind others in terms of the percentage of the vaccinated population.
In a statement, the NCOC said that it had devised a comprehensive plan to target tehsils where the vaccination rate is low. The statement said that the NCOC is collaborating with the National Database and Registration Authority and district administrations of the respective tehsils.
It said, “By using the information technology, unvaccinated people will be traced and approached to convince them for vaccination. The goal is to ensure that maximum number of people are vaccinated at the earliest.”
The NCOC also urged the masses to get themselves vaccinated so that the country could return to normal life as soon as possible.
Over 87m people jabbed
The official data shows that over 87 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have already been administered across the country. Over 62 million people have been partially vaccinated while over 31m have completed their vaccination. Meanwhile, a considerable number of people were vaccinated abroad and their vaccination record has been registered in Pakistan.
An official of the Ministry of National Health Services, on the condition of anonymity, said that NCOC hopes that the majority of people will not deny getting jabbed if they were approached by district administrations and, maybe, by police at a later stage.
The official said, “It is psyche of the people that they immediately follow the instructions if they come to know that district administration and police are keeping an eye on them. It will help us increase the number of vaccinated people.”
Positive cases at 3-months low
Meanwhile, the country posted the lowest number of COVID-19 cases during the last three months with the national positivity rate standing at 2.6 percent.
The NCOC data on Wednesday showed that 1,212 persons were infected and 39 died due to complications caused by an infection in a single day.
Moreover, the number of active cases was 44,828 and 3,212 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country as of October 6.
