The National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) has sought input from different ministries and city administrations on the tentative plan to impose a complete lockdown from next week in the 20 cities except for Karachi.

“Two weeks city-wise lockdown in districts and cities with high disease prevalence is tentatively planned with effect from 2 or 3 May 20201,” said an internal memo of the NCOC that was retracted after a few hours.

The memo has been sent to city administrations and different ministries to seek their input. The two weeks complete lockdown is tentatively planned for 20 cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Muzaffarabad.

The NCOC has also imposed a ban on tourism during the Eid holidays. All exams have also been delayed till June 15.
