Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan’s bail plea has been rejected by a Mumbai court on Friday after the earlier rejection of bail application in the Bombay High Court.

The 23-year-old Aryan Khan was detained on Saturday night in a case relating to drugs. He was initially taken into custody by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for alleged possession of banned drugs and substance abuse onboard a cruise ship in Mumbai and later arrested. He was remanded into NCB custody till October 7 and then presented in court.

On Friday, he has another hearing regarding the case in which an application for bail was presented. However, the court said that the bail application was not maintainable. His two other friends who were arrested along with Aryan also had their bail petitions dismissed.

Aryan’s lawyer argued that the 23-year-old was unlikely to flee the country if granted bail. He added that no drugs had been found on Aryan and contested the NCB’s argument that he could tamper with evidence if granted bail.

Officers had seized 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas, and 22 pills of MDMA, and 133,000 INR during the raid.

Aryan was sent to judicial custody for 14 days despite the NCB asking for his remand and was charged under sections 8(c), 20(b), 27, and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The NCB director was quoted saying that 18 people, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested in the case.

Several Bollywood celebrities have come to Aryan’s defense. The actor Hrithik Roshan recently wrote an open letter in his support on Instagram.
