A married woman was reportedly murdered in the name of honour by her brother in Lahore.

According to police, the honour killing incident took place in the Sanda area of the city. Rozi, a mother of three, was murdered on suspicion of having “extra-marital” relations.

Police said Rozi was married to her cousin but developed liking for one of her uncle’s son.

Police have started investigation.

According to the statistics available on the Punjab Police website, at least 6,277 cases of “honour killings” had occurred in the Punjab between 2011 and 2020. The maximum number of cases were 404 in 2014, of which 114 reported from Lahore.
