Russia and India are discussing a contract for the delivery of the Russian Ak-203 Kalashnikov assault rifles to the Indian Defence Ministry.

The firearm manufacturer Kalashnikov Group announced on Tuesday in a press release that the negotiations with the Indian Defence Ministry are at their final stage, and that there is a possibility that the contract may be signed towards the end of the year.

It added that during the process of preparing the contract, “Russian and Indian specialists have done a lot of preparatory work”.

The company has pledged to commence its production of rifles in early 2022 if the parties seal the deal.
