Former Chief Minister of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has slammed the activities of the National Investigation Agency saying the federal agency is waging a war in the occupied territory.

In a tweet, Mufti criticised the NIA’s recent spree of raids on Jamaat-e-Islami. She said, “NIA raids are on Jamaat are emblematic of GOI waging against its so-called ‘integral part’.”

People’s Democratic Party said that the use of such oppressive measures may work temporarily but in the long run it will prove to be counterproductive. “The gulf between J&K & rest of the country widens with every passing day. It is a self-goal”, she added.

Earlier on Sunday, the NIA conducted 56 raids in the 14 districts of J&K in connection with the Jamat-e-Islami terror funding case.

JEI was banned in February 2019 for a period of five years on the allegations of secessionist movement. In February 2021, a case was filed with the NIA under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The JEI has been accused of collecting funds under the pretence of Zakat, Mowda, and Bait-ul-Mal. It is alleged that they use the funding for further violent and secessionist activities.
