Lahore Qalandars have appointed Shaheen Shah Afridi as their vice-captain for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shaheen has been an integral member of the Lahore Qalandars squad since 2018. The Chief Operating Officer (COO), Sameen Rana said that giving this opportunity to Shaheen is right in line with our vision of grooming youngsters and preparing them for future challenges.
“We have always believed in empowering youngsters, if you see our squad – the majority of Qalandars are youngsters who have emerged to this level from our own player development program. We believe that Shaheen has always been very important member of our squad and it is the time that we start building him as a leader,” said Sameen.
Qalandar’s director cricket Aaqib Javed also appreciated Shaheen’s achievements for the franchise and the national team. He said, “Shaheen Afridi is a world-class cricketer with exceptional bowling skills, his commitment and dedication for the team is unmatched and he is keen to take the team to the next level.”
Shaheen has showed his gratitude towards the franchise for entrusting him with this responsibility.
“I am thankful to Lahore Qalandars’ management for this opportunity and really looking forward to play my part in success of Lahore Qalandars team” said Shaheen.
Lahore Qalandars finished runner ups in the fifth edition of the tournament and will be looking to go all the way this time around.
