The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a threat alert of a possible terrorist attack in Peshawar by proscribed organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The attack is planned on Central Jail Peshawar in the near future, according to a circular issued by the government. A copy of the circular is available with The Correspondent.
According to available information, two TTP operatives named Khurshid and Prawana, alongside others, have reached Peshawar and are possibly hiding at an unknown place in the vicinity of Central Jail Peshawar. Additionally, it is warned that a group of women, possibly associated with facilitation network of TTP, have also gather nearby to assist with the terrorist activity.
While the most likely target of the attack is Central Jail Peshawar, authorities are also ready to prevent attacks on other sensitive installations such as Peshawar High Court, Provincial Assembly, and Garrison Park.
Authorities in Peshawar have been placed on alert, and will be closely monitoring the activities of the terrorists. Precuationary measures against any attack have also been put in place in all relevant jurisdictions.
