Religious Scholar and head of Jamia Farooqia Malana Adil was shot dead in Karachi. Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief termed this killing “an attempt to foment unrest in Pakistan.”

Police said Maulana Adil was sitting in a car near a shopping mall in Shah Faisal Colony when armed pillion riders opened fir on him and his driver. Dr Adil and his driver Maqsood were shifted to hospital but where they were pronounced dead.

Maulana Adil was the son of late prominent scholar Maulana Saleemullah Khan, who founded the Jamia Farooqia, located in Shah Faisal Colony.

While condemning target killing of Maulana Adil, Prime Minister Imran Khan said he has repeatedly said that India is trying to create sectarian conflict across Country.

“We have prevented a number of such attempts preemptively in last few months.” he further said. “Our intelligence orgs & law enforcement agencies will nab culprits of this murder also.”

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa strongly condemned killing of of Maulana Adil. He termed it “an attempt to foment unrest by Pakistan’s enemies.”

Chief Minister Sind Murad Ali Shah directed police officials to ensure the arrest of culprits at the earliest. He said miscreants were trying to sabotage the law and order.
