The National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) on Friday said that the highest COVID-19 prevalence has been observed in the city of Karachi. The positivity ratio was recorded at 17% in the provincial capital of Sindh.
In the last 24 hours, 2,435 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 48 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the NCOC. The trend continued with Punjab reporting the most number of deaths in the country.
As of January 8, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 33,124. Yesterday, 38,369 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 12,461; Punjab: 14,804 ; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 5,581; Islamabad Capital Territory: 4,492; Balochistan: 500; Gilgit-Baltistan: 312 and Azad Kashmir: 219.
Out of 1756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 300 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB and Balochistan.
A total of 497,510 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 8,303; Balochistan 18,314; GB 4,878, ICT 38,842, KPK 60,536; Punjab 143,511 and Sindh 222,999.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 10,558 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 4,221 casualties followed by Sindh 3,670 KPK: 1,710; Islamabad: 436; Balochistan: 186; GB: 101 and AJK: 234.
627 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,801 patients being treated. Till now, Pakistan has conducted 7,002,706 tests.
