Pakistan’s hopes of winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics were dashed when Arshad Nadeem finished in fifth place in the javelin throw on Saturday.

However, it was the best performance of Arshad in the competition as he hurled the javelin to 84.62 meters.

Arshad was the first Pakistani to take part in the javelin throw at an Olympic event.

Interestingly, the gold medal was won by another first-timer, India’s Neeraj Chopra, who created history by becoming the first Indian to win an athletics gold medal at the Olympics with the best throw of 87.58.

Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch won silver with 86.67, while his countryman Vitezslav Vesely won bronze with 85.44.
