LAHORE: A district and session’s judge on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Javed Latif in a sedition case.

The session’s judge granted bail till March 30 on two surety bonds worth Rs 50,000 each and also summoned police record in the case.

Earlier, the MNA Javed Latif appeared in the court in person. His counsel Farhad Ali Shah implored that his client was implicated in a fabricated case.

The prosecution, on the other hand, argued that the accused was guilty of sedition argued that his bail be dismissed.

Township police registered a treason case against Javed on March 19 for allegedly hurling insults at the state and its institutions.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of one Jameel Saleem under sections 120, 120B, 153, 153-A, 500 and 505(I) (B) and 506 of PPC.

Javed Latif had said in a TV show that if any harm was done to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, integrity of the country could be endangered.
