The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating to pull out of the Asia Cup 2021 to be held in June. The main reason behind this is to create a window for the World Test Championship (WTC) final and bilateral series postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Times of India.
The final of WTC is to be held in June at the home of cricket and India is still in the race to qualify.
This move from India is likely to create monetary issues as broadcasters were expecting a huge revenue from the clash between Pakistan and India. BCCI is planning to host Sri Lanka in June-July.
It may also be noted that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had exchanged hosting rights for this years Asia Cup with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Through this arrangement, The SLC will now host the rescheduled Asia Cup expected in June 2021 while the PCB will host the Asia Cup in 2022.
