Leader of Hizb e Islami and Prominent Afghan Politician, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will arrive Islamabad tomorrow on a 3 day visit.

Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq said that during his visit to Pakistan, the head of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan will meet foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Arif Ali, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. His visit is the part of on-going Afghan peace talk.

The head of Hizb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar recently in an statement claimed that the Afghan government was trying to delay the peace process until November’s US presidential election.

Foreign Office in a press release said the visit of Mr. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will provide an opportunity for exchange of views on the Afghan peace process and strengthening of Pakistan in-Afghanistan bilateral relations as well as people-to-people interaction.

“Pakistan attaches high importance to its fraternal ties with Afghanistan, rooted deep in shared history, faith, culture, values and traditions. Pakistan fully supports all efforts for peace, stability and prosperity of the Afghan people.”

Foreign office spokesman said Pakistan has consistently supported an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
