Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has assured Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Abdul Qayyum Niazi of continued support to Kashmiri brethren.

General Bajwa was talking to Prime Minister Niazi who called on him in Rawalpindi on Saturday, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

It said they had an in-depth discussion on the fresh situation at the Line of Control, and Indian atrocities in the illegally occupied Kashmir.

General Bajwa also paid tributes to the icon of Kashmir Freedom Movement, Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani on his demise and said that Pakistan Army would continue its support for Kashmir cause and people of the occupied territory.

The COAS also congratulated premier Niazi for assuming his fresh responsibilities.

Matters related to mutual interest, including defence, security cooperation and overall regional security situation, especially the current situation in Afghanistan came under discussion, the ISPR added.

They also discussed cooperation in multiple fields including security cooperation, counter-terrorism and joint training of forces.
