French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for COVID-19, presidential Elysee Palace announced on Thursday.

Macron was tested after he developed first symptoms and now will isolate for seven days. The president will continue his work remotely.

With this development, Macron’s next week trip to Lebanon is cancelled, his office confirmed. French Prime Minister Jean Castex will also self-isolate after contact with Macron, his office said.
