France would have no relationship with the Taliban government, Foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Sunday amid the talks in Qatar to discuss future evacuation from Afghanistan.
The Foreign Minister in an interview with a news channel said that the Taliban’s claims that they would let the foreigners and Afghans evacuate freely were a lie.
Le Drian said, “France refuses to recognize or have any type of relationship with this government. We want actions from the Taliban and they will need some economic breathing space and international relations. It’s up to them.”
Paris has evacuated about 3,000 people and had held technical talks with the Taliban to enable those departures.
Le Drian added that there were still some French nationals and Afghans with ties to France stuck in Afghanistan.
Earlier some documents were obtained by the Turkish-based Anadolu Agency that revealed France’s connection with ISIS (also called Daesh).
