Punjab Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Humayun admitted that four newly established Universities in Punjab have been given low funding.

During the questioning hour in Punjab assembly, the minister said that newly established universities in Nankana Sahib, Muree, Rawalpindi, and Chakwal could not get the funds that were promised because of COVID-19.

Mr Humayun also admitted that in all four universities acting Vice-Chancellors (VC) are performing the duties of the VC and the government will soon announce permanent VCs for the universities.

In the election manifesto of the PTI, Higher Education was one of the leading priorities and Punjab government announced four new universities but so far all new universities could only get 20% of announced funds.

The actings VCs are also the VCs of other universities.
