Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be leading Pakistan’s delegation to the 47th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. 

According to a press release by the Foreign Office on Tuesday, the session will be held in Niamey, Niger this week on the 27 and 28 of November. Representatives of 57 OIC Member States and 5 Observer States are expected to attend the meeting.

The minister will be focusing on a range of issues and will highlight Islamophobia and the situation in Palestine and Kashmir, while also bringing the attention of the other ministers to issues for Muslim minorities in non-OIC member states. The press release does not mention India but the plight of Muslim minorities is likely to focus on the anti-Muslim citizenship laws of India and Indian atrocities in Kashmir.

The session will also be discussing the OIC 2025 Programme of Action and matter related to civilizational, cultural and religious dialogue. The session would include a brainstorming session to think of solutions on the issue of “Security and Humanitarian Challenges Confronting African Sahel States Members of the OIC.”

The press release gave special prominence to highlighting the illegal change in the status of Kashmir and the plans of changing demographics of the region. 

FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and heads of delegations of member states.
