The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on June 22 in a case pertaining to manipulation of the sugar industry.
In a notice sent to the National Assembly opposition leader, the investigation agency asked the lawmaker to appear before it on June 22 at its Lahore office. It warned that the PML-N chief would be arrested if the hearing was skipped.
The FIA also asked him to bring all the relevant documents along with him besides his replies to four questions the probe team has asked him. It said that Shehbaz had skipped the FIA hearings in the past, while his counsel also failed to furnish a response to the investigation agency.
A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted Shehbaz Sharif a bail in a separate corruption case.
