KARACHI: The Federal Government likely to announce spending of Rs739 billion for Karachi development under Karachi Transformation Programme during the next three years, the document of Federal Budget 2021-22 said.
According to the documents, the federal and Sindh governments will provide funds for the development schemes under the Karachi Transformation Programme.
Under this scheme of the Karachi Transformation Programme, the federal government would launch water supply projects and improve the city’s sewerage system, including the cleanliness of rain drainages.
Under this scheme, the government has also planned to install solid waste management and construct and repair the city’s infrastructure.
However, the Sindh government claimed that it would launch ten new projects in Karachi in the provincial fiscal budget 2021-22.
Nearly Rs24 billion worth of allocations has been proposed for the schemes in the port city for projects for the supply of water and construction of roads. The provincial budget will be allocated for schemes in Lyari, Malir, Baldia Town, Keamari, and the District Central.
Besides this, a 20 percent increment in the salaries of the government’s employees and a 20 percent increase in the pension of its retired employees is also expected in the upcoming provincial budget.
The salaries of the government’s employees will likely be increased according to their pay scales.
Meanwhile, the allocation of Rs3 billion to purchase buses for Karachi in the budget 2021-22 has been proposed.
Sindh’s Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, will be presented the provincial budget on 15 June.
