The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to issue notices to Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry and Railways Minister Azam Swati for their “allegations on the ECP”.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, a meeting of the ECP was held with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in the chair.

The meeting condemned the allegations against the ECP and CEC and decided to issue notices to both the ministers and seek evidence from Azam for his accusations.

The ECP has also sought records of the Presidential Palace, Senate Standing Committee meeting, and Fawad Chaudhry’s press conference from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority in the said regard.

On Friday, the ECP officials had walked out of a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs after Swati accused the commission of taking money from companies that make electronic voting machines.

Later, Fawad said during a press conference that it seems the ECP has “become the headquarters for opposition parties” and the CEC is “acting as their mouthpiece”.
