Michael K Williams The television’s iconic actor has been found dead in his New York apartment.

The New York police confirmed the death of the American Black actor who was famous for his character Omar, a gay Baltimore armed robber in the drama The Wire.

The nominee of the top television award of the US had starred in many acclaimed dramas and films. He appeared in The Wire, Broad walk Empire, Lovecraft Country, and 12 Years a Slave.

The agent of the actor announced the death of William hailing him as the ‘Emmy-nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams’. The New York police department confirmed the news to a news agency on Monday.

William was also nominated for 2016’s mini-series ‘The Night of’ and for the reality-based series ‘When They See US’.
HBO in its statement about the incident said, “While the world is aware of his immense talents as an artist, we knew Michael as a dear friend who was beloved by all who had the privilege to work with him.”

The deceased actor had addiction problems and he had spoken openly in the media about it that he had spent most of his earnings on drugs.

The news of the death triggered a torrent of grief and sympathy for the 54-year-old actor. The fans who saw him as one of the most talented artists of the time were in deep sorrow.

Stephen King the horror writer in a tweet expressed his grief about the incident and praised Williams as ‘one of the most talented actors of his generation.’
