The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) will meet today to finalise the schedule for school examinations and discuss other “important” matters.
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood will preside over the meeting which will be attended by provincial education ministers, including the Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
The meeting will also review the latest Covid-19 situation in the country and the reopening of educational institutions, examination schedule, and summer vacations.
The federal government had earlier allowed the reopening of high schools and colleges from today in districts where the Covid-19 positivity rate is less than 5 percent.
The Federal Education Ministry, after consultations with the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), had announced that the teachers would be vaccinated on priority.
The IPEMC had decided in its previous meeting to hold examinations in the country after June 15. The examination of grades 10 and 12 would be given priority over grade 9 and 11 examinations.
However, committee members rejected the suggestion to promote students of grades 9 and 11 without Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education examinations. They approved to hold examinations in July.
