The Election Commission of Pakistan is starting the scrutiny process of nomination papers filed for the upcoming Senate elections today. The process will continue till tomorrow.
170 candidates in all have filed their nomination papers with the ECP. These include 29 from Punjab, 39 from Sindh, 51 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 41 from Balochistan, and 10 from Islamabad Capital Territory.
The Senate election candidates can file appeals against the acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers on Saturday, 20 February. The last date for the disposal of these appeals is February 23.
The revised list of candidates will be published by the ECP on February 24. The candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers on February 25.
The Senate elections for the 48 available seats will be held on March 3 at the four provincial assemblies, and at the Parliament in Islamabad.
