At the 14th ECO Summit held virtually today, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized on the importance of enhancing expenditure on research, development, and digitalisation.
“We must promote knowledge-based economies and enhance expenditure on research, development, and digitalisation,” said the Prime Minister.
In his opening remarks at the summit, Imran Khan stated that Pakistan has “rich resources, enterprising people and human workforce, with a larger potential for future.”
He also stressed on the importance of geographical location, economic assets and political relationships among the Economic Cooperation Organization’s members, in an attempt to reach common and shared goals.
“There is a need to build an integrated network and transport system between the major economies in the east, west, south, and the north,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The 14th ECO summit is to be chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with the theme centered around ‘ Regional Economic Cooperation in the Aftermath of Covid-19.’
