Massive tremors were felt in parts of northern Pakistan and India around 10:02 PM (PKT) on Friday. Initial information from global geological observatories suggests the epicentre was near Murghob, Tajikistan. The earthquake is estimated to be between 5.9 to 6.4 on the Richter scale. Aftershocks are expected in the next 24 hours.
Residents from Lahore, Islamabad, and Muzzafarabad in Pakistan took to Twitter to report the earthquake, describing strong tremors. There were similar reports from Dehli and Srinagar on the micro-blogging site.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake originated on 12-02-2021 at 22:02 PKT
