Dubai will begin inoculations with the Pfizer and BioNTech produced coronavirus vaccine from Wednesday, revealed the emirate’s government. The vaccination process will be carried out for free as Dubai joins Saudi Arabia as one of the first regions to begin using the vaccine.
Earlier this month, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain rolled out a vaccine to the general public, developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm). UAE was the first to launch the Chinese vaccine for its citizens, stating that it has 86% efficacy.
Qatar has also authorised the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, while fellow Gulf Arab state Oman is to receive its first shipment on Wednesday.
UAE has recorded 195,878 COVID-19 cases so far, while the death toll has reached 642.
