In the last 24 hours, 2,521 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 43 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most deaths were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Sindh.
As of January 17, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 34,701. Yesterday, 41,191 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 13,936; Punjab: 14,186; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 6,242; Islamabad: 5,477; Balochistan: 688; Gilgit-Baltistan: 372 and Azad Kashmir: 290.
Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 334 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB and Balochistan.
A total of 519,291 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 8,606; Balochistan: 18,569; GB: 4,882, ICT: 40,7019, KPK: 63,339; Punjab: 149,222 and Sindh: 234,654.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 10,951 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 4,409 casualties followed by Sindh: 3,755, KPK: 1,779; Islamabad: 456; Balochistan: 190; GB: 101 and AJK: 241.
631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,876 patients being treated. Till now, Pakistan has conducted 7,367,622 tests.
