In the last 24 hours, 1,947 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 59 people lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). The trend continued with Punjab reporting the most number of deaths in the country.

As of January 5, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 35,707. Yesterday, 35,073 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 10,165; Punjab: 16,203; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 4,197; Islamabad: 3,713; Balochistan: 122; Gilgit-Baltistan: 357 and Azad Kashmir: 316.

Out of 1756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 314 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB and Balochistan.

A total of 490,474 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK: 8383; Balochistan: 18,254; GB: 4870; ICT 38395; KPK: 59729; Punjab: 141,393 and Sindh 219,452.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 10,409 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 4160 casualties followed by Sindh 3623, KPK: 1683; Islamabad: 428; Balochistan: 185; GB: 101 and AJK: 229.

626 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,729 patients being treated. So far, 444,360 people have recovered across Pakistan.
