Lord Mayor of Lahore Col (retd) Mubashir Javed and local body representatives invaded the Town Hall and broke the locks open but police foiled their bid to occupy the building.
After Supreme Court’s decision to restore local bodies, the councilors held a meeting in the Town Hall with Lord Mayor of Lahore Col (retd) Mubashir in the chair.
However, the administration locked the building and the local body representatives held the meeting on the lawns.
The meeting adopted a resolution to pay tribute to the Supreme Court for restoring the local bodies.
Talking to media, Lord Mayor Col (retd) Mubashir said that the local body system has constitutionally been restored, but the Punjab government deliberately did not give him the charge.
He said that he would file a contempt of court case against the Punjab government.
After the meeting, the local body members broke the locks, but were pushed back by police.
