Pakistan recorded 48 deaths due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest number since October 7, 2021, taking the overall death toll to 29,420, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data showed on Friday morning.
There is a consistent increase in hospitalization also, with 1,618 patients in critical care, but the positivity rate has remained below 10 percent for the fourth consecutive day. It was 9.94 percent as compared to yesterday’s 9.75 percent.
The number of new cases in the last 24 hours stands at 6,377 after 1,513,619 tests were conducted.
The new infections placed Pakistan’s confirmed case count at 1,448,663, while the active case count clocked in at 101,858.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Pakistan has conducted overall 25,258,682 tests to diagnose the coronavirus including 64,121 tests during the past 24 hours.
A total 1,312,819 people have recovered, including 7,839 in a single day, so far.
