A group of mountaineers part of International Winter K-2 Expedition visited GHQ and called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS). 

COAS congratulated the climbers for their great achievement, scaling K-2 in winter for the first time; making history in the field of mountaineering. The delegation shared their experiences during the momentous expedition and thanked Pakistan and its people for their warm hospitality. The delegation also expressed their gratitude for facilitating the expedition to achieve this record.

The group of 10 Nepali climbers started their ascent for K2 summit in winter. Nimsdai Purja and his team summited the K2 mountain, teaming up with Mingma Gyabu Sherpa and his team and a member from Seven Summit Treks (SST), Sona Sherpa.

To date, 11 attempts had been made to summit K2 in winter but all had failed, this was the first time the killer mountain has been summited in winters.
