KARACHI: CEO PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik inaugurated the enhanced Cabin Safety and Crew Resource Management (CRM) section of the PIA Safety Department to promote safety and further enhance the efficiency of flight operations; at the airline’s Head Office on Friday.
A safety meeting was also held at PIA Training Centre to enhance awareness and aspects to inform and update its employees on the airline’s flight safety performance and current practices in the aviation industry. PIA’s safety audits are conducted by International Organizations and regular safety training programs and meetings are held to enhance Safety Awareness.
CEO PIA, Air Marshal Arshad Malik, sharing his views on the occasion said that all steps are being taken to further improve and sustain the safety standards in line with International Aviation Standards and practices. He said that safety is and has always been the main priority of PIA.
Advisor to CEO PIA, AVM Amir Hayat, Captain Mohsin Ausaaf, Chief of Engineering Amir Ali, Speakers from College Safety Management PAF, senior officials of Civil Aviation Authority and PIA officials attended the meeting. Captain Mohsin Aftab of the PIA Flight Safety Department gave a detailed presentation on the airline’s flight safety performance and initiatives. Later on, awards and certificates for good work performance were distributed to employees.
The Safety meeting was part of the Safety week held by PIA which included Health, Safety and Environment Awareness, Hygiene at the workplace, Fire Safety, training sessions and also Safety procedures to be adopted during work. The sessions were held for all job functions and in particular Flight Operations, Passenger Handling Services, Technical Ground Support, Cargo, Engineering & Maintenance and Medical Services.
