Veteran boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to fight unbeaten Caleb Planet for the undisputed world super-middleweight boxing title.

In an interview on Thursday, Canelo announced that the bout would take place on November 6 in Las Vegas.

Taking to Twitter, he said he was going to put “mexican boxing on top.”

The matchup will see the Mexican defend his World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council, and World Boxing Organization belts against International Boxing Federation champion Plant.

The fight had been targeted for September then fell apart but, after Canelo considered world light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol as his next opponent, he has now finalized a deal with Plant.

Canelo is considered the world’s pound-for-pound top fighter and facing Plant will give him the remarkable opportunity to unify a division by beating three undefeated champions inside a year.

Alvarez, 56-1 with two drawn and 38 knockouts, seeks his eighth win in a row. He beat Britain’s Callum Smith by unanimous decision in December 2020 for the WBA and WBC crowns and added the WBO title three months ago by beating Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders.

Plant, 21-0 with 12 knockouts, won the IBF crown by defeating Venezuelan Jose Uzcategui by unanimous decision in January 2019. He has defended it three times since then, most recently beating countryman Caleb Truax by unanimous decision in January.
