Body of teenage girl dug out and raped in Thatta

Culprits not yet identified dug out the corpse of a recently buried teenage girl and raped it in Maulvi Ashraf Chandio, a village near the coastal town Ghulamullah on Saturday.

The victim’s parents and relatives told reporters they buried the 14-year-old girl who had died of natural causes, in the village’s graveyard late last night and returned the next morning as per tradition.

They found the grave dug up and the body missing.

It was later found in a ditch in a nearby jungle, showing signs of rape.

The parents then brought the body to Thatta Civil Hospital for autopsy where medical superintendent confirmed the assault on the body.

The parents also tried to report the matter to the local police, who paid no heed to the crime.

The parents believe the heinous crime was committed by a local goon, who also happens to be the son of the village landlord.

Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly, Haleem Adil Sheikh, rushed to offer condolences to the family.

In a statement, he asserted that the SHO of the town, Ghulam Hussain Khachar, should be nominated in the FIR for his negligence.

“Sindh has turned into a state within a state where wadera’s associated with PPP rule their respective areas on their own.” He said.

No FIR as of yet has been registered.
