Former South African star Herschelle Gibbs has taken the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the cleaners after threatening foreign players to not participate in the inaugural Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

Gibbs, the head coach of PSL’s franchise Karachi Kings, revealed that BCCI has threatened him and said he would not enter India if he plays in KPL.

“Completely unnecessary of the BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the KPL. Also, threatening me by saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous,” he tweeted.

Yesterday, England players withdrew themselves from taking part in KPL due to similar pressure. Four players, including Monty Panesar, Matt Prior, Phil Mustard, and Owais Shah, have withdrawn.

According to reports, India threatened the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to suspend their players from playing in their country if they send players to Pakistan for KPL. In reaction, ECB stopped its players from participating in KPL.

KPL decided not to include any foreign player. The league will now base just local players, but Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan has agreed to play and represent Muzaffarabad Tigers in KPL.

Franchises will now replace all the foreign players with locals for the event scheduled from August 6 to 16 in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir.
