Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero made his highly anticipated debut for Barcelona as Philippe Coutinho’s first goal in almost a year led the Blaugrana secured victory against Valencia.
Aguero joined Barcelona in the summer after leaving Manchester City but had been sidelined due to his injury.
He came on with three minutes to go as a substitute for Coutinho, shortly after the Brazilian had assured Barcelona’s victory.
The former Liverpool forward struck from a close range to add to goals from Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay.
Jose Gaya had given the visitors an early lead but the young Ansu Fati marked his first start in almost a year with a goal soon after, firing home from the edge of the box.
Fati then won a penalty for the team when he was fouled inside the box and Depay stepped up to convert the penalty.
As Valencia pushed for an equalizer Coutinho scored for the first time since a 4-0 win against Osasuna in November 2020 to seal the match for Barcelona.
The Koeman’s side are seventh on the leaders board with 15 points, five behind leaders Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, in other La Liga matches, Rayo Vallecano has defeated Elche by 2-1. Osasuna has stunned Villareal by 2-1. Sevilla has beaten Celta Vigo by 1-0. Whereas, Granada V Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid V Athletic Bilbao have been rescheduled.
