Pakistan national team chief selector Mohammad Wasim and skipper Babar Azam are not on the same page over the inclusion of veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik in the T20I side, as reported by local news outlet.
According to the reports, Babar has asked Wasim to include Malik in the T20I squad more than once but the chief selector is not in favor of including the senior all-rounder.
Pakistan has been struggling in the middle-order in the shortest format this year. Sensational performances from the top-order, especially Babar and Mohammad Rizwan, has won matches for the Men in Green this year.
However, Wasim believes that Malik, at the age of 39, will not fit in the Pakistan T20I squad.
Malik last represented Pakistan in September 2020. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Malik was the highest run-scorer for his side with 354 in 13 games at an average of 35.40 and a healthy strike rate of 149.36.
In the inaugural season of Kashmir Premier League (KPL), Malik while representing Mirpur Royals amassed 240 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 133.33
