Pakistan Army will now assist the police to ensure that SOPs are followed. The prime minister of Pakistan while addressing after the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting said that he asked Pakistan Army to facilitate police for ensuring SOPs.

The premier said that “Last Ramzan people did follow SOPs but a year down people are not taking the required precautionary measures. The fatigue factor is also there but we have to follow SOPs otherwise we will have to lockdown cities.”

Fawad Chaudhary, the Federal Minister for Information also took to Twitter and said, “As the coronavirus situation is getting worse, PM Imran Khan has called Pakistan Army in the cities to ensure that SOPs are followed.”

He further said, “We have reached 90 per cent oxygen capacity. Lahore is the worse effected. Please take precautions as there is no other way.”

PM Imran also said if we all follow SOPs then we wont have to go toward a complete city lockdown.

The COVID-19 situation in the country is getting worse day by day. In the last 24 hours, Pakistan reported 144 deaths and at least 5,870 new coronavirus cases, said the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) in its daily statement.

Out of 144 deaths, 57 patients died on the ventilators. At least 4,652 patients are in a critical condition, as per the NCOC.

On Thursday, 72 died in Punjab, 14 in Sindh, 37 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in Islamabad, one in Balochistan, and six in Azad Kashmir.
