Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has suggested an increase of Rs5.25 per litre in the price of petrol from October 1.

It is learnt that the OGRA has sent a proposal to the Finance Division for another hike of Rs5 in the price in a fortnight.

It is likely that the price of diesel will move up by Rs3.5 per litre.

The Ministry of Finance would make a final decision after consultations with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The government had on September 15 increased the price of petrol “owing to the fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variation.”

Petrol, with the Rs5 increase, costs Rs123.30 per litre, whereas high-speed diesel, with an increase of Rs5.01, costs Rs120.04 per litre.
