The residents of Kabul blamed America for their wearies and misfortunes on Saturday as the world marked the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
That prompted the invasion of Afghanistan and the collapse of the Taliban government.
US forces have abruptly exited Afghanistan after 20 years of occupation, triggering the collapse of the Western-backed government and the Taliban’s return to power.
Abdul Waris, a Kabul resident expressed that America has to be blamed for the current misfortunate state of Afghanistan.
The young men who spoke to international media complained that US forces had not helped Afghan people when they were in Afghanistan.
Jalil Ahmad a resident of Kabul said, “After the September 11 events took place, the Americans were in our country for 20 years for their own benefit,”
“They took the benefits they had in mind for 20 years while we did not get any benefit from them. They have left the country in a state of confusion.”
Another resident Gul Agha said, “Now there is security and security is good … May God give the Taliban more strength to maintain this (calm) forever,”
US forces invaded Afghanistan because the Taliban’s government had provided sanctuary to Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11.
Now as the Taliban have returned to power on August 15, they have appointed an acting cabinet including several former militants held by the United States in Guantanamo Bay.
