Pakistan handed over 46 soldiers, including five officers, to Afghan authorities at Nawapass, Bajaur, on Monday night, said an ISPR press release.
These soldiers from the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Border Police were given safe passage into Pakistan, on their request, by Pakistan Army in Arundu Sector on the Pakistan-Afghanistan International border in Chitral on July 25, the press release added.
After necessary clearance, the Afghan soldiers crossed into Pakistan with their weapons, ammunition and communication equipment. They were given in the custody of Afghan authorities along with their weapons and equipment.
The ISPR said that the Pakistan army has ensured the Afghan authorities that it will continue to extend support “to our Afghan brethren in time of need”.
It may be recalled that on July 1, 35 Afghan soldiers requested Pak army for refuge. They were also given safe passage into Pakistan and handed over to Afghan authorities after due procedure.
